This position reports to the Laboratory Manager/Director and will require occasional hours on some weekends.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
· Perform clinical in vitro fertilization techniques. This includes obtaining a semen specimen and preparing it for insemination, retrieving oocytes from follicular aspirates, inseminating the oocytes by intracytoplasmic injection, culturing the resulting embryos, and assisting in the transfer of the embryos.
· Perform assisted fertilization techniques, including assisted hatching, and biopsy.
· Cryopreservation of embryos and spermatozoa, and successful thawing of said gametes.
· Conduct semen analyses, evaluate and prepare.
· Ensure quality control and maintain chain of custody
· Conduct chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood and semen to determine presence of normal and abnormal components.
· Enter test in computer
· Perform quality control studies to ensure accuracy of clinical data.
· Perform routine preventative maintenance on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure.
· Verify instrument functioning by checking and calibrating specific lab instruments and documents data.
· Record on instrument logs any repairs, replacement, and maintenance needed of equipment.
· Freeze and thaw embryos/sperm.
· Performs semen cryopreservation and maintenance of samples: labels specimen and containers, freezes semen, enters data in cryopreservation logbook, thaws and prepares samples for IUI and ART/IVF.
· Checks liquid nitrogen levels daily. Checks alarm systems daily. Checks inventories periodically. Freezes ejaculated, epididymal or testicular sperm samples.
· Performs changeover procedure for culturing zygotes. Records and classifies anomalies. Enters data. Classifies suitability of zygotes for culture.
· Performs embryo replacement (transfer) procedures using witness: selects embryos for transfer. Communicates with physician. Prepares embryos for transfer, enters data, and determines outcome of excess embryos.
· Performs adequate pH testing of all applicable materials.
· Participates in laboratory cleaning: prepares, cleans, and sterilizes pipette and other contact materials: prepares and cleans other non-contact materials.
· Cooperates with the Laboratory Manager in maintaining logbooks for quality control and OSHA related matters.
· Cooperates with the Laboratory Manager/Director in implementing laboratory quality control and regulatory policies and procedures.
· Performs daily and periodical examinations of quality control issues. Attends quality control meetings, performs daily standardization testing for CO2, incubator performance, flow hood performance, embryo container liquid nitrogen level and laboratory environment.
· Provides support and participates continuing education programs related to embryology and reproductive medicine.

· Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States
· Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year College or University in laboratory science
· One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Ability to work in a rigorous work, environment
· Must complete practice orientation and training programs
